It’s possible with copper cables, just wondering how you’d stitch additional fibre optic cable without disrupting the network.
No. Copper involves electrons which can move “sideways” so you can clamp a bypass and cut between. Fiber optics require a precisely aligned connection as the photons bounce off the walls of the fiber and there is no way to cut it and get the extension into place on both the ends and hold it in the connector without losing data.
